Net
School
- Hillsboro, Oregon
Net School provides thirteen courses that are given the same credit
as regular Hillsboro courses. The current program includes: Light
and Color, Electricity, World History, Integrated U.S. History/English,
Pre-algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Integrated English, Math,
Body Systems, Elementary Chemistry, Latin American, and Asia.
Plans include additional courses as needed. A recommended grade
level is suggested for the various classes. They count toward
graduation. Students may enroll in three different ways. If they
are not currently enrolled in school (for example home schooled
students) they pay no fees. If they are enrolled in an Oregon
school, they must have approval from their schools to attend.
If they are from Oregon, but not from Hillsboro, they can arrange
for a "district transfer" in which case their home district pays
the tuition. Students
outside of Oregon pay tuition at $350 per course.
Students
receive and complete assignments on Web pages. They are expected
to participate at least three times per week in each course. If
there is no activity for a week, parents are notified. If there
is no activity for two weeks with no attempt to communicate why,
the student is dropped from the course. It is not possible to
complete an entire high school program or to receive a diploma
from this school.
