HPR*TEC Goals
As
outlined by the HPR*TEC Core Learning Organization on October
25, 2000.
"I
dream of a day when..."
Goal
1
...the
core learning organization plays a vital role in advancing the
work of each of its members
...the
services of our partners (including local and national entities)
can be customized to meet the needs of our partners
...when
product development is embedded within the real work of the field
and done in a way that crosses boundaries to maximize efforts
by supporting the rest of the field
Goal
2
...all
students and teachers have all the tools they need for teaching
and learning (addresses equity/diversity)
...students
and teachers learn together
...resources
are both available and utilized, and correlated with standards
...assessment
is based on student learning rather than the success of a project
Goal
3
...data
clearly shows positive impact of technology
...the
K-12 field seamlessly collects and utilizes data for decision
making and reflective practice
...educators
understand the value of data in guiding instruction
...K-12
learners use data to identify and address learning gaps
...data
is utilized to address the needs and wants of all learners
...the
field becomes critical consumers of data (what is valuable?)
Goal
4
...none
of the projects related to instructional technology will be a
reinvention of the wheel
...the
skills, experience and knowledge of everyone are available to
everyone -- "widely distributed"
...we
function as a network, not only finding solutions that work, but
consistently supporting those who are implementing the "big ideas"
...the
process is valued and built on by the players
...the
synergy values the visions of the Ottos and empowers them
...a
shared resource excites people to build on it (open source coding/model)
...we
have a system that, in its use, benefits both the individual user
and the contributors -- a dynamic system
...the
practitioner in the field and the executive director of NSBA (for
example) will share the same values
...we
will contribute the best and get the best (strategies, ideas)
from the national network -- access/distribution of information,
solutions and knowledge will not function as a funnel, but as
a sieve
Common
themes:
- Collaboration
- Strong
connection among goals
- Respective
work of partners is embedded/interconnected with R*TEC work
(seamless process among entities)
